Visits to Westover Green Community School and Autism Centre

We are delighted that you are considering Westover Green Community School and Autism Centre for your child to either begin or continue their school learning journey.

We would like you to visit and get a feel for the school and the learning that takes place. It is nice to show you around so that you can sample the unique atmosphere and see the excellent facilities that we have to offer - please contact the School Office to arrange this.

If you would like to have an informal conversation about your child joining us, please feel free to give us a call or email us and we will happily answer any questions you may have and take you through the process.

Please note the 14 places in our specialist autism centre provision are allocated by the Local Authority and not through school admissions.

In-year applications

All applications for 'In Year' admissions to Westover Green Community School must be to the school direct.

Admissions contact: Mrs S Holcombe
Tel: 01278 422943
Email: office@westovergreenschool.org.uk

All completed applications received by the school will be considered against the schools admission arrangements by an admissions sub committee of the Governing Body.

For general information about admissions please see the Somerset County Council's website.

In order to apply for a place at Westover Green Community School & Autism Centre during the school year, you need to complete an In-Year Addmission Form (for each child) and return it to us.

You can obtain this form from the school office or use the following link:

https://www.somerset.gov.uk/children-families-and-education/applying-for-school/in-year-school-admissions/

Places can only be offered up to a maximum of half a term or six weeks in advance of when the place would be taken up.

Once we have received your completed form, and providing we have available spaces, we will write to you and arrange a suitable starting date.

If your child is refused a place at our school you have the right to appeal against the decision. A letter will be sent to you that will outline details of how to appeal, including this link to an online portal:

https://www.somerset.gov.uk/children-families-and-education/applying-for-school/appeal-a-school-admissions-decision/

Alternatively, if you are unable to use the online portal, please contact the Democratic Services team (schoolappeals@somerset.gov.uk) for guidance on how to appeal.
