We understand that children's mental health and well being is important. Happy, confident children are enabled to be successful in their own way.
We strive to work with parents to build happy and resilient children, but when we think that our children's resilience is low and their mental health becomes a concern we are able to work with the Mental Health Support Team to support the pupils of Westover Green.
Over the last 18 months we have established Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions-this is a group of pupils who help to embed an understand of mental health and wellbeing at Westover. This consists of supporting pupils at break and lunchtime, raising awareness and introducing and embedding initiatives across school.
We have recently launched our buddy bench which is located on our main playground. This was an initiative devised by the wellbeing champions. They monitor children who may find themselves there when they are feeling low. It is the responsibility of the champions to help their peers to resolve conflicts, engage back into play or to simply cheer up a friend if they are having a sad moment. You may have seen the article in the Bridgwater Mercury.
