Westover Green Community School and Autism Centre

Pupil Premium

The pupil premium grant was introduced by the Department for Education in April 2011. This grant, which is additional to mainstream school funding, is seen by the Government as the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers, by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

Pupil Premium is provided for pupils who:

  • Are registered for free school meals
  • Have been registered for free school meals at any point in the past 6 years
  • Are, or have been, in care
  • Have parents in the armed forces

Schools can decide how the pupil premium grant is spent, since they are the best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils in their care.

At Westover Green Community School and Autism Centre we support all of our pupils by providing high quality classroom teaching, supplemented by structured interventions and wider approaches. Futura Learning Partnership, the senior leadership team and governing body monitor the impact of all spending and interventions, including the pupil premium grant.

The total amount allocated to the school for the financial year 2024 to 2025 is £283,427 For details on how the pupil premium grant is used and the significant impact it has at Westover Green, please see our plan for 2024-25. This includes a review for 2023-24.

If you have any questions or would like further information or support to check your child's eligibility for free school meals or the pupil premium grant, please contact the school office in the first instance.
